Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced that it has shipped the first 12,000 mt of 100-meter rails to Russian Railways as part of a supplementary agreement to the 2008 strategic contract between the two companies.

Mechel stated that in the current year its rail supplies to Russian Railways are due to amount to 150,000 mt for the construction and reconstruction of the North Caucasian and Kuibyshev railroads. The rails produced by Mechel’s subsidiary Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (CMP) are fully in compliance with Russian Railways’ requirements and were produced according to the certificate granted to CMP by the Federal Railway Transport Certification Register in June 2015.
