Russian sources report that the domestic steel producer Mechel may be interested in buying Ashinskiy Metallurgical Works (Ashinskiy). Currently, the controlling stake in Ashinskiy belongs to the mill's management. Ashinskiy, which is located in the Chelyabinsk region and specializes in plate production, is considered as a medium size plant in Russia. When questioned by SteelOrbis in relation to the report, Mechel officials declined to make any comment.
