Anhui Province-based Chinese steelmaker Maanshan Iron and Steel Co. (Masteel) has announced that an Iranian cargo ship transporting 50 containers with a total of 1,200 mt of iron ore has docked at wharf No. 6 of Maanshan Port, marking the first time Masteel has imported iron ore via the nearby port.

Up to now, Masteel has imported bulk iron ore from Australia and Brazil via the ports of Shanghai and Ningbo. This generally requires 40 days for inspection of cargoes, while delivery costs are quite high. Importing via Maanshan Port, inspection time will be reduced to 10 days, while costs will be lower.
