Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry has announced that it has imposed a preliminary antidumping (AD) duty on cold rolled coil or non-alloy steel (CRC) above 1,300 mm in width from China, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam.

The preliminary antidumping duties ranging from zero to 26.39 percent will be effective not more than 120 days as of August 27.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, Malaysia started the antidumping investigation on the abovementioned products in April this year, though the market had been asking for an antidumping duty on CRC products for a long time.

In 2018, Malaysia’s CRC imports amounted to 1.11 million mt, accounting for 20 percent of total CRC imports in the ASEAN region, while the domestic production volume stood at 864,348 mt.
