Kunming Steel makes progress in Vietnamese projects

As disclosed by the foreign affairs office of the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan, local steekmaker Kunming Steel has made progress in the development of the Guisha iron ore mine located in the Vietnamese province of Loa Cai and also in the construction of the Lao Cai steel project with a designed annual capacity of one million mt, with the cooperation of the Lao Cai provincial authorities and Vietnam Steel Corporation.

As the largest steel production base in Yunnan Province, Kunming Steel produced around 6 million mt of finished steel in 2009, with its total sales revenues exceeding RMB 40 billion ($5.86 billion) and its net profit reaching RMB 1 billion ($146.46 million).
