Kremikovtzi bids for Lamkos

Bulgarian steelmaker Kremikovtzi today participates in the second round of bidding for the Lamkos galvanized steel plant in Kosovo. If Kremikovtzi manages to acquire the 130'000 ton annual capacity Lamkos, the Bulgarian steelmaker will become the top producer in the region. However, an undisclosed bidder is challenging Kremikovtzi for Lamkos. Just last week, Kremikovtzi bought Serbian galvanized sheet iron maker Lemind for €1.4 million. Lemin has a 72'000 ton annual capacity. Kremikovtzi, which plans to invest €40 million in various projects this year, exports most of its production to the European Union and Turkey.
