According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in the first seven months of 2008 the country registered a 0.7 percent decrease in its crude steel production, a 6.7 percent decrease in its production of flat rolled (including a 7.5 percent decline in tinplate and a 6.4 percent drop in galvanized steel), but a 2.1 percent rise in its ferroalloys production year on year.
The respective figures in metric tons were 2.748 million, 1.878 million (including 121,792 for tinplate and 328,273 for galvanized steel), and 1.009 million.
