JSW Steel USA will idle its EAF flat rolled mill in Mingo Junction, Ohio, attributing the shutdown to decreased demand and the installation of a new furnace, according to news reports.

The mill was already idled from April through June. The upgrades to the mill, which will include replacing the current 1.5 million metric ton EAF with a newer furnace with the same capacity, are expected to be completed in 2021, according to the company.

The company did not give a timeline for the current idling.
