JSW increased production in April

Indian steel maker JSW Steel Limited has reported a growth of 20 percent in crude steel production, a 28 percent increase in flat product output and an 86 percent rise in long product production in April this year, compared to the corresponding month of 2009.

The breakdown of the company's production in April is as follows:

The company has also announced the start of commercial operations at the recently commissioned 3.5 million mt annual capacity second hot strip mill at its Vijayanagar works from April 10 on. The new hot strip mill produced about 36,000 mt in the first month after commissioning, with output being ramped up at a rapid pace.
