JISCO and JVSL to expand their capacities

Indian steel producers Jindal Iron & Steel Company (JISCO) and Jindal Vijaynagar Steel Ltd (JVSL) reportedly invest Rupees 20 billion ($434.6 million) to increase their production capacities. In line with the project, annual hot rolled production capacity of JVSL will be increased from current 2.5 million tons to 4 million tons. On the other hand, annual cold rolling capacity and galvanizing capacity of JISCO will be increased to 1 million tons and 900000 tons respectively. The cost of hot rolled capacity expansion is forecasted to be Rupees 11 billion ($239 million). The expansion of hot rolled coil capacity is planned to be completed by March 2006, whereas expansion of galvanizing and cold rolled capacities are planned to be completed by March 2005.
