Japan's steel exports post y-o-y decline
Data from the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation show that Japan's steel exports fell 0.9 percent year on year to 3.33 million metric tons in March 2006. Japan's steel exports to South Korea increased 4.5 percent year on year to 846,961 metric tons in March, while those to China grew 11.5 percent to 590,753 metric tons. Furthermore, Japan's steel exports to Thailand fell 2.1 percent to 345,840 metric tons, while those to Taiwan decreased 6.1 percent to 289,480 metric tons. On the other hand, Japan's steel exports to the US jumped 51.8 percent to 215,095 metric tons.
