Japan's steel exports keep on falling
Data from the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation show that Japan's steel exports fell 4.2 percent year on year to 2.59 million metric tons in April 2006. Japan's steel exports to South Korea fell 11.9 percent year on year to 562,000 metric tons in April, while those to China dropped 6.1 percent to 460,000 metric tons. Furthermore, Japan's steel exports to Thailand fell 23.6 percent to 255,000 metric tons, while those to Taiwan decreased 20 percent to 284,000 metric tons. On the other hand, Japan's steel exports to the US jumped 15.6 percent to 141,000 metric tons.
