Japan’s iron ore imports up slightly in January-September

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's iron ore imports totaled 11.3 million metric tons in September  this year, falling by 1.45 percent month on month and up 17.5 percent compared to September 2012.

Japan's iron ore imports amounted to 101.4 million metric tons in the first nine months of 2013, up slightly compared to the same period of last year.

In September this year, Japan's iron ore imports from Australia rose by 32.3 percent to 7.3 million metric tons, while Brazil exported 3.07 million mt of iron ore to Japan, decreasing by 11.5 percent, both year on year.
