Japan’s ferroalloy imports decline in January

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferroalloy imports totaled 132,069 metric tons in January this year, decreasing by 8.1 percent month on month and down 5.8 percent compared to January 2012.
 
In January of the current year, Japan's ferroalloy imports from Kazakhstan increased to 27,807 metric tons, down 19.4 percent compared to the previous month and down 2.2 percent year on year, while China exported 23,699 mt of ferroalloy to Japan in January, down 2.5 percent month on month and decreasing by 5.1 percent compared to January 2012. Meanwhile, South Africa's ferroalloy exports to Japan in the month in question fell by 27.7 percent month on month to 23,583 mt, down 24.3 percent year on year. On the other hand, India increased its ferroalloy exports in January to Japan to 23,331 mt, up 47.6 percent month on month.
