Japanese steel exports down 11 percent in Nov from Oct

According to the provisional data released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance, in November this year Japan's iron and steel product exports came to 3.02 million metric tons, decreasing by 11.1 percent month on month and down 14.8 percent as compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports generated a value of JPY 273.35 billion ($3.5 billion), down 9.2 percent compared to November 2010 and down 9.7 percent on month-on-month basis.

In the given month, Japan's iron and steel product exports to the US increased by 30.8 percent to 180,000 metric tons, its exports to the EU decreased by 22 percent to 22,000 metric tons, while iron and steel exports to China decreased by 13.4 percent to 503,000 metric tons, exports to the Middle East fell by 0.8 percent to 117,000 metric tons, and iron and steel exports to the ASEAN countries fell by 16.7 percent to 711,000 metric tons, all compared to November 2010.
