Japanese crude steel output up 3.5 percent in June

In June this year, Japanese crude steel production decreased 0.26 percent compared to the previous month, while it increased 3.5 percent year on year, totaling 9.2 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
 
Meanwhile, the country's pig iron production in June this year totaled 6.82 million metric tons, decreasing by 0.26 percent month on month and up 2.4 percent compared to the same month last year.

In the January-June period of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 40.33 million metric tons, up 0.1 percent, and its crude steel production came to 54 million metric tons, remaining flat, both compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
