In August this year, Japanese crude steel production decreased by 1.5 percent compared to the previous month, while it fell 0.6 percent year on year, totaling 9.14 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Meanwhile, Japan's pig iron production in August this year totaled 7.14 million metric tons, decreasing by 1.6 percent month on month and down 0.7 percent compared to the same month last year.
In the January-August period of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 55.86 million metric tons, rising 2.3 percent, while its crude steel production came to 73.15 million metric tons, rising by 0.9 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2012.
