Japanese crude steel output down 1.1 percent in September from August

In September this year, Japanese crude steel production was down 1.1 percent compared to the previous month, while it decreased by 0.5 percent compared to September 2013, totaling 9.24 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
 
Meanwhile, in September Japan's pig iron production totaled 7.06 million metric tons, decreasing by four percent compared to the previous month and increasing by 1.8 percent year on year.

In the first nine months of the current year, the country's pig iron output stood at 62.81 million metric tons, remaining unchanged, while its crude steel production came to 83.12 million metric tons, increasing by 0.8 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
