According to the statistics released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in the first 11 months of 2010
Italy's steel imports reached 15.31 million metric tons, increasing by 32.3 percent, while its steel exports totaled 14.11 million metric tons, up 21.1 percent, both compared to January-November 2009.
In the period in question,
Italy's semi-finished steel product imports reached 3.3 million metric tons, up 36.5 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the country's semi-finished steel product exports amounted to 860,000 metric tons, up 57.8 percent year on year.
In January-November 2010
Italy's imports of long steel products increased by 33.4 percent to 2.03 million metric tons, while its long steel product exports totaled 2.89 million metric tons, down three percent, both on year-on-year basis.
On the other hand, during the first 11 months of 2010,
Italy's flat steel product imports reached 8.74 million metric tons, up 32.8 percent year on year, while its flat steel product exports amounted to 6.03 million metric tons, with a year-on-year increase of 36.3 percent.
