Italy’s crude steel production declines in August from July

As expected, there was a drop in crude steel production in Italy in August. According to the latest update released by Federacciai, the Italian federation of steel companies, Italy produced around 820,000 mt of crude steel in August this year, down from 1.753 million in July. However, the year-on-year change remains up by 9.2 percent, as shown in the following table.

As for long and flat steel products, in August longs production amounted to 336,000 mt up 13.5 percent year on year, while flats production totaled 473,000 mt, rising by 19.1 percent year on year.
