Italy’s crude steel output rises 30 percent in Q1

According to the statistics released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in March this year Italian crude steel output totaled 2.38 million metric tons, increasing by 43.5 percent year on year and by 9.8 percent compared to February. The country's crude steel output has thus risen for the last three consecutive months and reached its highest monthly volume since October 2008.
 
Meanwhile, in the first three months of 2010 the country's crude steel production stood at 6.42 million metric tons, rising by 29.8 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year.
 
Federacciai has also released Italy's long and flat steel output data for February this year.
 
Accordingly, in the second month of this year Italy's long steel output rose by 3.9 percent year on year and by 19.9 month on month, reaching 1.02 million metric tons.

On the other hand, in February the country's flat steel output reached 1.04 million metric tons, up 52.9 percent year on year and 5.9 percent month on month.
