Italy’s construction output index falls to year-to-date low in November

In November last year, the Italian seasonally adjusted construction output index decreased by 3.4 percent month on month, according to the preliminary figures from ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office. The average index for the September-November quarter decreased by 5.3 percent compared to the previous quarter.
 
Italy’s seasonally adjusted construction output index reading in November fell to 73.7 points, a year-to-date low and the lowest reading since ISTAT started to record index data in 2009. In 2012, the 80-point threshold (base 2005 = 100) was exceeded only twice - in March and August.
 
The calendar adjusted index of production in Italian construction in November last year fell by 17.9 percent compared with November 2011, while in the in the first 11 months of the year the index went down by 14.1 percent compared with the same period 2011.
