Genoa, Italy-based flat stainless steel producer Arinox, a subsidiary of Arvedi Group, has signed of the biggest orders received by the company in the last few years, according to local Italian media reports.
After several months of negotiation, Arinox's German commercial office Arinox Deutschland overcame international competitors and won a contract worth €3 million for the supply of 500 metric tons of 0.10-0.15 mm grade X2CrNiMo12-12-2 high precision stainless steel strip as per AISI 316L.
This stainless steel grade has higher resistance to general corrosion and pitting/crevice corrosion than conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels.
The stainless steel strip will be produced by Arinox in August and September and will be delivered to the US, where it will be used for the fabrication of one of the biggest hyperpure silicon production plants in the world. Hyperpure silicon is a key element for the maximization of the performance of photovoltaic modules.
Arinox is the only producer of precision stainless steel strip in Italy and is a leading international market player.
