In October, Italian crude steel output reached its highest monthly level since November last year, despite a drop of 15.8 percent year on year.
According to the statistics released by Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in October this year Italy's crude steel output amounted to 2.17 million metric tons, decreasing by 15.8 percent year on year, but up 14.67 percent over the previous month.
Meanwhile, in the January-October period of this year Italy's crude steel output totaled 16.25 million metric tons, decreasing by 39 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Federacciai also released Italy's long and flat steel output figures for September this year.
Accordingly, the country's long product output in the month in question totaled 1.01 million metric tons, declining by 30.1 percent year on year, but up 276 percent over August. In August, Italy's long steel output had fallen by 71.23 percent compared to July.
Meanwhile, in September Italian flat steel production decreased by 27.7 percent compared to September 2008, reaching 944,000 metric tons, and registering a month-on-month increase of 15.39 percent. In August, the country's flat steel output had decreased by 36.86 percent compared to July.
