Ispat Sidex plans to increase output in 2003
The Romanian steelmaker Ispat Sidex, taken over by LNM Holdings in November 2001, is scheduled to ship 4.5 million tons of products in 2003, according to reports. This level will be achieved by increasing efficiency of operations and produce 5 million tons of liquid steel. To increase this liquid steel
production level to 6 million tons is targeted in the long term.
The priority is given to cold rolled and
coated products by 25-30% and 30-40% respectively, and then the balance output will be allocated for hot rolled coil and
plate. The intention is basically sell the increased output in the domestic market as well as recovering the import facilities into markets of serious flat importers, such as
Turkey.
