Iran's private sector mills up finished steel output by 22%

Iran's privately-owned rolling mills produced 1.1 million mt of finished steel products in the first quarter (21.03.2009-20.03.2010) of the current Iranian year, representing an increase of 22 percent compared with the same period of last year, Mr. Taghi Bahrami Noshahr, the head of Iran's steel producers association stated in a recent interview.
 
The above finished steel output figure for the first quarter compares to the Iranian privately-owned rolling mills' combined nominal annual capacity of about 12 million mt of both long and flat steel products.

In the quarter in question, Iran imported about 2 million mt of steel (both semis and finished).
