Iranian steelmaker Khouzestan Steel produced 291,000 mt of steel billet in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21-April 20), representing an increase of seven percent compared to the same month of the previous Iranian year - according to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
Khouzestan Steel has raised its nominal semi-finished steel output capacity to 3.2 million mt since it upgraded some of its steelmaking equipment and started running its new DRI module, Zam Zam II, in 2009. The steelmaker expects to operate at full capacity in the current Iranian year (started March 21).
