Iranian state-controlled DRI production rises by 11 percent

Production of direct reduced iron (DRI or sponge iron) by Iranian state-controlled steel plants increased by 11 percent year on year in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), as announced by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

Accordingly, state-run producers Mobarakeh Steel, Khouzestan Steel, Hormozgan Steel and Khorasan Steel produced a total of 5.95 million metric tons of DRI in the eight-month period in question, while they had produced 5.35 million metric tons in the same period of the last Iranian year.
