Iran's Consumers and Producers Protection Organization has announced that export of 50 industrial and agricultural products has been banned, including iron and steel. The list of banned products also includes wheat, sugar and polymer products.

The ban includes re-exportation of goods benefiting from government-subsidized currency transactions aimed at avoiding negative impacts of the open-market exchange rate. Iran also aims to preserve supplies of essential products amid the tightening sanctions imposed by the US and the European Union over Iran's disputed nuclear program.
