Industrial output of China’s steel sector up 5.5 percent in H1

In the January-June period this year, the value-added industrial output of the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector in China recorded a year-on-year rise of 5.5 percent, 0.5 percentage points faster compared to the increase in the first five months of the current year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In June alone, the value-added industrial output of the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector in China indicated a year-on-year increase of 7.8 percent, 4.7 percentage points faster than the increase recorded in May.

In the first six months, China's overall value-added industrial output increased by 3.8 percent year on year. In June alone, the overall value-added industrial output increased by 4.4 percent year on year, while it rose by 0.63 percent month on month.  

In June this year, of the 41 industrial sectors in China, 26 witnessed year-on-year increases in value-added industrial output.  

In June, the value-added industrial outputs in the mining and manufacturing sectors rose by 1.7 percent and by 4.2 percent year on year, respectively.
