India’s VSP announced sales figures for May 2003
India's long producer Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) reported its sales as Rupees 3.35 billion (approx. $71 million) for May 2003 with a 5% increase when compared to same period last year.
VSP's labour
production is reached to 271 tons in May. Furthermore, the plant is showed the best performance of energy comsumption and reported 5.9 Giga calories/ton of liquid steel in May.
VSP produced 360'000 tons of hot metal, 306'000 tons of liquid steel, 288'000 tons of cast bloom, 250'000 tons of saleable steel and 57'057 tons of value-added steel.
VSP supply
iron ore from National Minerals Development Corporation but the amount could not meet with VSP's demand. Despite a higher cost, the plant is looking for other sources to obtain the same quality of
iron ore in order to overcome this problem.
