India’s scrap imports hit 4.78 million mt in January to November 2018

According to provisional customs data via the Ministry of Steel, India imported 4.78 million mt of ferrous scrap in the January to November 2018 period. SteelOrbis previously reported ferrous scrap imports of 4.26 million mt in the first 10 months of 2018, therefore, approximately 0.52 million mt was imported in November.

The scrap was imported from the UAE (0.97 million mt, 20 percent), the US (0.58 million mt, 12 percent), the UK (0.56 million mt, 12 percent), Singapore (0.37 million mt, 7 percent), South Africa (0.33 million mt, 7 percent), Australia (0.15 million mt, 3 percent), Togo (0.13 million mt, 3 percent), Belgium (0.12 million mt, 3 percent) and other sources (1.57 million mt, 33 percent).
