Indian steel policy to focus on infrastructure problems

Indian steel policy, which is currently being prepared by the Ministry of Steel, is reportedly focusing on the issues of availability of raw materials and infrastructural requirements of steel manufacturers. Indian Ministry of Steel collected data from local steel manufacturers to determine the content of the steel policy. The steel producers urged the Ministry to deal with infrastructure problems. Accordingly, the Ministry will reportedly focus on establishment of port, road and railway facilities. Apart from infrastructure projects, the Ministry will try both to remedy the supply-demand problem in domestic steel market and to provide raw material availability in domestic market. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the new policy will not include any item that restricts export of iron ore, which is a crucial raw material in steel making.
