Indian government to restrict metal scrap imports

Indian government is planning to restrict imports of metal scrap from war zones following the blast that took place in a factory in Ghaziabad. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, a scrap container, which contained hazardous materials, resulted in a blast at the factory of Bhusan Steel. Accordingly, Indian Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) determined to change the import policy regarding metal scrap. Currently, no license is required to import scrap. However, now certain restrictions will be brought on metal scrap imported especially from war zones.
