Indian finished steel production increase by 5.1 percent in April-November

India’s finished steel production during the first eight months (April-November) of the financial year 2017-18 increased by 5.1 percent to 69.60 million mt, as compared to same period of the previous year, according to a report of Ministry of Steel released on Tuesday, December 27.

According to the report, domestic steel consumption in India during the period in question increased by 4.2 percent to 56.79 million mt year on year.

However, the ministry reported noted that total finished steel production during November 2017 was estimated at 8.34 million mt, which is about 6.4 percent lower than November 2016.

During April-November 2017, total pig iron production in the country was estimated at 66.70 million mt, increasing by 4.5 percent year on year.
