In June this year, the manufacturing output index in Indian industry declined 3.2 percent year on year compared to an 11.1 percent of year-on-year growth recorded in June 2011, according to data released by the Indian government's Central Statistical Organisation (CSO) on Thursday, August 9.
In the second quarter of 2012, the index of industrial production in India's manufacturing sector declined 0.7 percent year on year against a growth of 7.7 percent year on year during the corresponding quarter of 2011, the government data showed.
However, the industrial output index in India's basic metal sector in June this year increased by 0.4 percent compared to June 2011, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment rose by 0.7 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2012 the output index for basic metals rose by 2.5 percent, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, rose by 5.9 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
