India posts seventh straight double-digit industrial production growth in April

India's monthly industrial production in April this year rose by 17.6 percent year on year. April was the seventh straight month in which a double-digit rise in industrial output was recorded and follows a revised 14 percent increase in March. However, on month-on-month basis, in April the country's industrial production regressed by 9.13 percent over March.
 
Among the various industrial sectors, in April metal products and parts, excluding machinery and equipment, showed a growth of 51.9 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, industrial production in the country's basic metal and alloy industry in April improved by 11.2 percent year on year and was down 8.93 percent month on month.
