India has imposed definitive antidumping duty on flat rolled products of steel, plated or coated with aluminium and zinc, imported from China, Vietnam and South Korea, for a period of five years effective from June 23, according to an official government notification.

According to the notification issued by India’s department of revenue under the ministry of finance, the AD duty rate on such imports from these three originating countries will be in the range of $14.30-173.10/mt.

It may be noted that the government imposed ‘provisional’ antidumping duties on these steel products in October 2019, which are now being followed up with a definitive levy for five years following the completion of dumping investigations by the Directorate General for Trade Remedies (DGTR) and its final recommendations, government officials said.

However, the AD duty will not be applicable in case of select categories of products like flat rolled steel products coated with zinc without addition of aluminium, flat steel coated products coated with aluminium but without zinc, and pre-painted color coated aluminium-zinc alloy coated steel sheets, the government notification said.
