Import of steel products in Jordan allowed

Jordan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Mohammad Halaiqa has recently announced that steel contractors in Jordan are allowed to import steel products on the condition that they are consistent with Jordanian standards. In his statement, Halaiqa expressed that the steel contractors are now permitted to import steel products from any source and in required amounts as long as the products are consistent with Jordanian standards, stressing that the local producers which produce steel products against Jordanian standards will be closed down. Halaiqa is also working on certain solutions for reduction in prices of steel products in the local market, as the prices are high due to strong demand both in local and international markets.
