Mr. Sergey Kovolenko, marketing department director of Ukrainian steel producer Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich) has stated that the company plans to apply to the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy for the initiation of an antidumping (AD) investigation into imports of hot rolled sheets of thicknesses of up to 10 mm.

Making his comments during Metall-Forum Ukraine 2007 which took place in Kiev on October 18-20, Mr. Kovolenko went on to say that Ilyich was currently in talks with fellow Ukrainian flats producer Zaporizhstal in order to prepare a joint complaint to be filed with the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy.

The complaint is expected to be filed by November 2007.

Although Ilyich's representative did not specify the countries against which the company proposes investigations, he underlined that the main damage to the Ukrainian domestic flats producers is currently being caused by imports from Russia and Kazakhstan.
