Harsco Corporation has reached two separate agreements with Argentina’s largest steelmaker, Ternium Siderar, and Mexican longs producer Deacero to provide onsite services. The two deals are worth about $50 million, the company said this week.

Harsco’s Metals and Minerals division will provide new services for scrap handling and processing at Ternium Siderar’s basic oxygen furnace (BOF) mill in San Nicolas, Argentina. The mill has a capacity of nearly 2.5 million mt per year. The five-year contract is scheduled to begin on January 2018.

Additionally, Harsco said it will extend existing services under a seven-year contract renewal for Deacero’s electric arc furnace (EAF) mill in Celaya, Mexico. Harsco’s services at Celaya include molten slag transport and metal recovery, in which metal content is captured from steelmaking slag for reuse in the production of new steel.
