Hebei Province-based Handan Iron and Steel Co. (Hansteel), a subsidiary of Hebei Iron and Steel Group, has announced that it has produced 700L high-strength steel beams used in truck manufacture, producing a batch of 1,500 mt. The beams are 5-10 mm in thickness and 1,410-1,500 mm in width, with average yield strength, tensile strength and elongation of 710 MPa, 760 MPa and 22 percent respectively.
700L high-strength beams are increasingly used in truck manufacture in China in place of 510L and 610L beams amid the Chinese government's efforts to reduce vehicle weight and cut fuel consumption.
