Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Handan Iron and Steel Co. (Handan Steel), a subsidiary of Hebei Steel Group, has announced that it has successfully produced 700 mt of high-strength H680 steel with tensile strength of 745 MPa for application in automobile frames.
The product in question is mainly used in the manufacturing of heavy automobile frames with a yield strength requirement above 580 MPa and a tensile strength requirement above 680 MPa.
The high-strength H680 auto frame steel will contribute to reducing frame weight and thereby also to reducing fuel consumption.
