In the second quarter of this year, world stainless crude steel output decreased by 2.4 percent quarter on quarter to 11.46 million mt, while declining by 3.1 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, according to the preliminary report released by the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF). Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, world stainless crude steel output increased by five percent year on year, amounting to 23.21 million mt.
According to the ISSF data, in the first half of this year stainless crude steel production increased by 4.2 percent in China and moved up by 5.2 percent in the Asia region excluding China and South Korea, while increasing by 24.3 percent in the US and rising by 2.3 percent in Europe, all compared with the first half of 2016.
