German Salzgitter sales rise but profit drops

Salzgitter group sales rose by 4% for the period of January-September 2002, owing to the improvement in the tubes and sections sales. However the net income for the same period is Euro 59million, down by 48% compared to last year's same period. This decrease in the profits of company is closely related to the decline in the steel and processing divisions, as a result of the slowed down construction industry in Germany.
