German rolled steel prices rise 7.3 percent in June

According to a report released by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in June this year the index of producer prices for industrial products increased by 5.6 percent year on year in Germany, while the index rose over the month of May by 0.1%.
 
In June this year, prices for intermediate goods increased by 5.7 percent year on year and rose slightly 0.3 percent compared to May 2011. This high rate of change on year-on-year basis was due in the prices of metals. Metal prices rose 8.9 percent as compared to the same month of last year while they rose 0.1 percent compared to May 2011. Particularly, rolled steel prices increased by 7.3 percent over June 2011 but decreased 0.7 percent compared to the previous month this year.
