Gerdau’s net profit declines in 2022

Brazil’s Gerdau posted a consolidated net profit of BRL 11.595 billion ($2.230 billion) for 2022, against BRL 13.879 billion achieved in 2021.

Net sales increased by 5.2 percent to BRL 82.412 billion and EBITDA declined by 7.4 percent to BRL 21.508 billion.

By volume, production of crude steel declined by 4.7 percent to 12.666 million mt, while sales of steel products declined by 6.4 percent to 11.902 million mt.

In terms of business divisions of the group, Brazil was responsible for 38.9 percent of the group’s net sales and 30.6 percent of its EBITDA, while North America had respectively 36.6 percent and 46.4 percent, South America had 8.5 percent and 10.0 percent and the specialty steels business division had 16.1 percent and 13.0 percent.
