Gerdau reactivates round bar rolling mill in Brazil

Brazilian integrated steelmaker Gerdau announced this week it reactivated a round bar rolling mill at its Pindamonhangaba facility, located in the city of same name in the state of Sao Paulo.

According to Gerdau, it decided to provisionally halt the operations of the rolling mill due to the sluggish demand of the country’s automotive industry, a major consumer of steel. The Pindamonhangaba round bar rolling mill has a capacity of 500,000 mt/year.

According to Gerdau, all three rolling mills at the Pindamonhangaba facility are currently operating. The Pindamonhangaba facility is also the site of Gerdau’s JV with Sumitomo and Japan Steel Works (JSW), called Gerdau Summit, which commenced operations this week.
