Swedish global industrial group Sandvik Mining and Construction and British Colombia, Canada-based supplier of specialized mining productivity solutions Gemcom Software International Inc. have signed a collaboration agreement to develop a system and interface for monitoring underground mobile mining equipment, Gemcom said on June 14.
According to Gemcom's statement, the two companies are teaming up on an innovative equipment performance and production tracking solution that will further improve consolidation and validation of information from mine operational systems.
The new technology will combine InSite, Gemcom's innovative technology that monitors in near real time equipment, events, and tracks production, which enables timely operational decision making, with Sandvik's sophisticated OptimineTM automation system.
A prototype of the Sandvik Gemcom collaborative solution is reportedly in place at the Sandvik Test Mine in Tampere, Finland.
