A representative from US Steel reported Thursday that the No. 8 Blast Furnace at the company’s Gary Works has resumed production after an incident on June 1 resulted in an unplanned outage.

The furnace, which can produce up to 3,300 tons of pig iron per day, is the smallest at the Indiana mill.
